After a few years of working towards this goal, we’re so excited to be able to open a San Geronimo Valley history museum in the Living Room space at the Community Center! This will be the Valley’s first museum since the informal basement space of Maude Gardner at her Woodacre home - which hasn’t operated since the home left the family decades ago.
This museum will feature museum-style displays on a range of Valley history topics on the walls of the Living Room, and may include multimedia offerings as well. SGVHS will continue to operate the sgvhistoricalsociety.org website with its digital archives as a supplement to the museum displays.
This project was made possible by many people including Dave Cort, Michele McCourtney, Dewey Livingston, Anne McClain, David Lakes, Gina Smith, the Marin County Community Service Fund, Marin County Free Library, and many more. Thank you as well to Lagunitas School student interns Zane Edwards and Solon Moore for all their efforts digitizing materials and assembling displays.
Please join us for the grand opening of the SGVHS museum on Friday, June 24 from 6 to 8 PM outside the Community Center’s east wing. There will be music, food, and Valley storytelling from a range of longtime Valley residents.
